India is one of Australias most important and growing import partners, particularly renowned for supplying pharmaceuticals, refined petroleum, garments and textiles, cut gemstones, and engineering goods. The AIECTA, which entered into force in December 2022, provides staged tariff reductions on thousands of goods lines, making Indian-origin products increasingly competitive in the Australian market.
Goods originating in India may qualify for preferential duty rates under AIECTA. Goods must meet the rules of origin and be accompanied by a valid certificate of origin.
