The United Kingdom is a key trading partner for Australia, notably exporting high-value machinery, pharmaceutical products, aerospace components, premium alcoholic beverages such as Scotch whisky, and luxury vehicles. The AUKFTA, which entered into force in May 2023, provides staged tariff reductions and eventual duty-free access on the majority of UK goods, making British exports increasingly competitive in the Australian market.
Goods originating in United Kingdom may qualify for preferential duty rates under AUKFTA. Goods must meet the rules of origin and be accompanied by a valid certificate of origin.
